Martín Gustavo Ibarra is the president of the firm and participated in the World Bank mission that established China’s special economic zones in 1983. He has also contributed to the restructuring of foreign trade mechanisms and free trade zones in most Latin American countries, as well as in some countries in Asia and Africa. He has advised several ports on concession contracts and the promotion of port services.

He played a key role as a manager and coordinator in the creation of Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Trade in 1991 (now the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism), facilitating the transition from a closed to a globalized economy, with initiatives such as the drafting of a new Customs Code in 1984, the Framework Law on Foreign Trade in the same year, and the new Free Trade Zones Law in 1983.

He has been recognized by various legal publications, such as Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and Best Lawyers International, as one of the top lawyers in International Trade Law in Colombia and Latin America.

He is also a distinguished international speaker on Free Trade Zones and Foreign Trade.
